Loon Shark Tooth Tippet Holder/Cutter
I am a gadget freak, so when I saw these in the Feather-Craft catalog I just had to have some. I am always looking to refine my gear setup and make life a little easier. I am not saying that pulling tippet off a spool and cutting it is hard, it's just one of those little annoyances that a simple tool makes easy.
The Loon Shark Tooth is an elastic band tippet retainer that has a plastic "tooth" which houses and embedded razor cutter in it's leading edge. You simply spool the tippet through the rear grommet which dispenses like a traditional spool retainer. Once you dispense your desired length you bring the tippet around the front of the tooth and pull. *POP* You have a section cut without fumbling with a nippper or chipping your tooth biting through tippet.
I haven't given it the field test yet but from messing with it at home it seems easy to use. The only drawback is that the "tooth" is not labeled but that is easily fixed with a Sharpie. The Shark Tooth runs $4.95 per.
I think it is worth a look!

I'm gonna have to get a few of those. I've always had issues with out of control tippet. (I too am a gadget freak!!)

I gave this tippet control system a go during my recent fishing trip. I think they are worth the cost and take a little step out of deploying tippet. The only con is that when you use it the tag end of the tippet is about 1-2 inches long. I had a couple of times where the tippet backed out of the grommet and hung loose. Definitely a thumbs up!

I need to try these. I've been battling tippet unwinding and wrapping around everything while I'm fishing...Drives me INSANE!!!

Looks like a pretty cool idea. Might have to try one a see. My trout stays pretty snug. My river bass stuff does fair as well.
