Waterproofing your camera...
I came across this a few minutes ago... http://www.orvis.com/store/product.aspx?pf_id=58YY&dir_id=758&cat_id=13377&Group_ID=786
Would definitely save a TON of money. Instead of buying a waterproof camera, you could just put the camera into this waterproof case.

That is a cost effective solution. My advice would be to make sure that you get it big enough. I had a case like this for my old digital point and shoot but it fell a little short. I failed to take into consideration the lens housing that extends out of the camera body. When I turned it on the gears that extend the lens bogged down and almost broke when it contacted the side of the bag. There also might be some problems with focus if there is a gap between the plastic and the focus apparatus.
I think it is worth a try.

Agreed...It's a good idea to get one that's bigger than the actual camera. There's a lot of things that can go wrong, but I guess you don't know until you try it...Keep that receipt just in case!!!!
