Rain Empty Rain

Post by teachrtec Sat Mar 26, 2011 9:54 am

We were supposed to get a big rain storm last night. It seems to be delayed or have missed us all together. What's it doing else where?

I believe we will get it later this morning.

Not much falling from the sky right now, but looks like it's eventually coming. Radar says it's taking its sweet time, but it's on the way. Big storms down in GA/MS/AL. Mountains are forecasted to see some snow/sleet/freezing rain (mainly light).

Raining hard today here. The FB is already full. Guess big river fishing is out for awhile. Shame big olive caddis hatches were starting.

Question - how long after substantial rain can you safely fish streams again? I know it varies from stream to stream but let's use a typical DH stream, like the Wilson. Also, how would that same concept apply for a wild stream? Just trying to get a sense of whether or not to try to fish this weekend. Thanks!

Unless it is just mud/and in the tree go. Use different tactics like heavy swung streamers. Do take chances in high water wading. Rock hop.

You guys should be fine this weekend. Rain is done until early next week, so the streams are receding. During heavy rain, those small streams are going to be much easier to fish. Brad gave some great tips.
