The Holy Grail
I just recieved my 2010 "The Fly Shop" catalog. I was in the destination section and found a trip that just might be the ultimate fly fishing trip. With great places like New Zealand, Argentina, and Scotland. Its hard to find something new and untouched but this is it.
Kamchatka Siberia, heres some info.
-its a peninsula the size of california
-was off limits to westerners until 1992
-only 180 miles of road so if you cant walk or are afraid to fly tough luck
- 109,716 rivers over 10 miles in length
-1/3 of the worlds Pacific salmon spawn here
-only 6, week long expeditions are lead each year and they explore water that has hardly been seen by man let alone fished.
Im not sure what you think but this place has all the features of my dream trip.

HA!! I might need to change the forum name to "Tar Heel Fly Fishing Nightly Forum" or something...Kamchatka is unbelievable. I'll won't sleep either after seeing this film...
Re: The Holy Grail
There is something just the tiniest bit unsettling about fishing in places like that. I guess it's my fear of the unknown or whatever. But there is also that desire to go someplace unique. Well, you can't get more unique than Kamchatka. I don't think I will ever get there but it would be nice to try. I guess I need to get a piggy bank too.
Re: The Holy Grail
I think the fact that Kamchatka is so remote (I'm talking DAYS from the nearest shack) is the thing that scares me. But watching those fish and seeing them rise to a big mouse fly without hesitations just makes up for it!!
