Pom-Pom Egg
Scud Hook or Egg Hook
Craftstore visit.
Slip on hook. Becareful of finger and hook. I did it once
Thread on hook. Drop of glue.
Slide up quickly
Sharpie for yoke spot.
I had a guide friend recommend this to me. It catches fish really well. Pom-Poms come in a wide range of colors. You can also double em up on a longer shank hook if you like. Bigger sized pom-poms are available. I prefer the 5mm for around here. Particularly DH streams.

Re: Pom-Pom Egg
Just to add to that pattern, and it's a great one and sure simple enough and productive. Add a tungsten bead or tung or lead dumbbell eyes to the head and viola that sucker will sink like a rock. We fish for steelhead and trout with a very similar pattern. We call it the Lowly Glowly.
The Lowly Glowly
Hook: Gamakatsu C14S sizes 10 - 2 or TMC 2457 if you want smaller than 10
Thread: 6/0 uni-thread or 140 D Fluorescent orange or match your body if you like
Eyes: Chrome dumb-bell, tungsten bead, or cone (I prefer tungsten over lead it's a bit more spendy, but doesn't pollute the rivers when you loose em. And you will!)
Tail: Estaz pink chenille or any other color just to give a little bit of flash.
Body: McFly Foam whatever color suits your fancy. We tend to use orange and pink with all the salmon here.
Especially if you're fishing larger creeks or high and off colored water where you want it to get down in a hurry. Then you can get creative and put an unweighted egg pattern on a dropper. Nothing like giving 'em 2 eggs to eat!
Here's a pic and video

Edit: if your lowly glowly gets a little fuzzy or a tad big, take a heat source such as lighter or match and the heat will shrink up the McFly Foam really nicely, just try not to burn it.

Re: Pom-Pom Egg
You said you used a Sharpie to color the yolk on that egg. What color sharpie did you use to do it? The picture is difficult to make out what you did. I was figuring on tying a few of these soon.
