A First!
I have caught a lot of Tilapia on bait and soft plastic in years past. Never caught one on a fly. Couple a weeks ago we went to the lake to let little man play in the very nice park. (My cover story at least.) No joy and a pretty rough storm ran us off. Well tried again today. The weather was crap here and the river was a deep red so smallies weren't gonna happen.
Fished around the dock and saw several. Tried a long list of flies. No success. They pick it up and drop is as fast. Put a Prince Nymph on and dropped against the dock. Saw several come by and check it out. A few gave it a quick taste and spit. Finally I got one interested he picked it up and I actually set the hook. Probably weighted a pound. (Camera was with momma at the playground Sorry). That's one more to the list

Re: A First!
It sounds like Tilapia are fun to catch. Apparently they'll work ya until you catch one! Congrats on your first fly caught Tilapia!
