Tying in Biots
Anybody have any tips for handling and aligning biots? As a beginner, I've been experimenting with different patterns and recently been trying my hand at tying a Copper John. I've read articles and watched videos and everyone makes tying in the biots look very simple. I realize it takes lots of practice and patience but I can't even manage to get them aligned properly even when tying them in one at a time. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

John Barr had this on Mid Current (a great resource) about tying in the tails on his fly.

Biots really are easy to tie in. I always tie in a small ball of dubbing (not much though) in order to separate the biots. Also, notice that each biot is curved slightly outwards. Tie the biot in where it's curved outwards. Brad provided an excellent article.

Brad and Tyler, thanks for the link and tip. I'll take a look at the article. Looks like I'll have plenty of time to try tying today. About 4 inches of snow on the ground and more expected throughout the day. Stay warm and thanks again.
