what's in your fly box?
On another forum I have seen folks ask about what people stock in their fly boxes. Take a picture of your fly box and let us know what you carry and why you organize like you do.
My Box....
I only have one box and it is full of all kinds of flies. Really all over the map as far as selection goes. I hope to get more refined and have specific boxes for each area. Maybe when my tying gets stronger and I can afford to do that.
Re: what's in your fly box?
Looking over that box I don't see a single fly pattern I would take out. All strong patterns in there situation. I've probably got to many fly boxes and to many patterns. Been trying to organize them this winter better. Not as easy as I would have thought.
Re: what's in your fly box?
The focus on my camera has seen it's better days. Sorry I'm not able to post any pictures.
Les..I agree with Brad 100%. You have a box FULL of excellent flies man!! You'll be amazed at how quickly you'll add to your box(es) now that you're tying.
My advice to you is to keep them organized and continue to do so. Like Brad sayed, it's tough to organize them when you have too many flies and boxes. When I started out, my box wasn't even close to what yours looks like. Mine looked like a bomb was dropped on it. I would always fumble around in them trying to find the bug I want.
Also, if those standard dries like the Royal Wulff, BWOS, and Mr. Rapidans start to get bent and disformed hackle from being pressed against the bottom of the box, try putting them in a compartment fly box.

Totally agree. Dries are better loss. Saves the shape as said.

It's a touch picked thru right now. Been restock some of the specific boxes. This one seems to get out the most with a general streamer and dry fly box for wild and DH trout around here.
