Popper from my childhood
We fished poppers and casting floats for bluegill for as far back as I can remember. Long before I got obsessed with fly fishing. The go to pattern was a Bett's Trim Gim Popper. Black over white with some red accents. I have tried and tied a lot different styles of poppers since. The other night I was feeling nostalgic. Couldn't find one on the place. Found a good profile shot on BassPro's site and did some interpolation to get the size ratios. Here's my take on the pattern. Not a exact copy by any means but the basic ideas.
They had to have a red spot underneath. If we couldn't get the one that had the red as a kid I would add a dot of nail polish or red sharpie

A classic for sure! I'm liking the fine "salt and pepper" spots on the backs. Really nice looking bugs!
