Wader Repairs
Hey guys,
Been a little slack on the fishing here lately and haven't been too talkative online much either. I haven't been fly fishing for a while and my only pullage was from an undersized slot drum at the Outer Banks in November.
During my Outer Banks trip I finally came to grips with a problem that I knew I had but refused to acknowledge. I have leaky waders. I went wading for speckled trout in the sound one morning and being the beach I just wore shorts under my waders. At the end of trip I poured out about 2 cups of water from my stocking feet. I could feel the water leaking in along the seam on my leg. It has been a problem previously but I just attributed it to a lot of sweat or a tiny leak that dampened my pants. So, I figured that my wading for trout would be on hold this fall/winter until I can get new waders or repair my leaks.
Anyone out there have a similar problem? How did you fix it? I thought I would just get a huge tube of Aquaseal and just re-do all the seams with sealant.
Anyway, I hope to sneak in some fishing very soon. I might drag out my neoprenes and sweat my nizzats off in the snow.

Re: Wader Repairs
If its the seam itself, then the Aquaseal would probably work. Kinda like seam sealing a tent's rainfly. If its a puncture or a small tear Aquaseal may work, but they also make the repair kit with the patches. Leaky waders aren't good in December.

AquaSeal will do the trick Buffalo. Punctured a pair of waders back in '93. Patched them with some white adhesive tape (from my first aid kit) and AquaSeal. Still use those waders like that and they don't leak

AquaSeal works well on small holes. Get in a dark room and stick a flash light down each leg. Do this with them turned inside out. Mark the spots with a Sharpie. Seems depend on where it's a small separation or a catastrophic failure.
Re: Wader Repairs
I've got a tiny pinhole in my waders as well. Like everyone said, Aquaseal will do the trick. Glad you caught the hole before you jumped in the water!
