Podcasts....
Finally!! I've found an easy way to make podcasts. No long distance phone calls and $300 subscribtions are required to make podcasts. They will be uploaded to the "Podcasts" section on iTunes. I'll also post the direct link to the podcast here on the forum. I'll dive right into it soon (maybe tomorrow) after I run out to get a mic. I have the mixing software and audio converters ready to go. Any topics you guys are interested in? Techniques? Destinations? Trout behavior?
I enjoy doing things like this. Hopefully it will be a success...

Re: Podcasts....
Maybe a first topic might be what someone needs or needs to know to get started in the sport. Just a thought.
Re: Podcasts....
Sounds like an excellent topic for the first podcast. That may be the topic I choose...
Re: Podcasts....
An idea for future podcast - Everyone always will tell you what flies are working, but no one ever talks about the technique that should be used.
Re: Podcasts....
Another idea for a topic: Discuss ways to save money in fly fishing and fly tying. On a budget kinda thing.

Yes, please tell me why fly fishing is expensive, although Walmart is trying to get there hands around the sport and make products CHEAP!

That's and easy question to answer. Because we will pay for it!
Fly fishing is a very gear and gadget oriented sport. If you are like me you gotta have that cool gadget that you use once a season and hangs off you like a telephone repair man. After a while that all adds up. Not to mention consumables like flies and tippet. I usually loose 5-6 flies a trip if I am trying hard and if you aren't loosing flies then you aren't trying hard enough.
My Dad passed on some folksy wisdom to me one day. He said "Son, if you buy cheap s*** then you own cheap s***." Quality equipment costs money. You can fish with a $10 rod and reel but eventually you will get what you pay for. In the same breath, just because it says Orvis don't mean it is gold either. Just shop around and get advice then make the best purchase you can with the cash you can afford to dole out.
Do I need 4 fly rods..... YES! Does my son need shoes?? Maybe......

I would tend to agree.
Remember there is a difference between price and quality. If I can make a tool (AS in Tool Design) I probably will before I buy it and a label. A lot of things in flyfish exist other places for considerably less. Same stuff. Remember when you pay for stuff it's not just money it's also research and study.
Re: Podcasts....

Re: Podcasts....
Thanks guys!! It was a lot of fun putting it together and experimenting with the mixing software. I'm already looking down the road for the next one!! I'm still looking for ways upcoming episodes better.
Re: Podcasts....
Nice podcast!
I think a show about reading water might be good. You could post an example picture on the board and refer to it during your cast. Another thing I wonder about is the process you go through to decide what fly/technique to start out with when you first get on the water.
