If you had a week to fish NC.....
I am trying to make my final plans for my week off in April and I need some suggestions.
We are thinking about making a little tour of Western NC while we are off and hitting good places to fish. We are starting on Monday 4/5 and can last till 4/10 if need be. I have some places in mind that I want to go but am interested in some input from ones that have fished there since my experience in Western NC is limited.
So far my itinerary is Davidson, Tuckasseege, Cherokee Reservation, then ? I think we will finish on Wilson Creek before we head back to Greensboro. I think the idea is to do this as a loop with camping or cheap ass hotels for lodging. Any other places worth going?
BTW... Where do you get info on the release schedule for the Tuckasseege? I think we went last year during a release and the wading was tough. Well, that and the drift boats passing through us while we were trying to fish was interesting.

The Nantahala River is a good one. Go up to Wayah Rd above the powerhouse and you won't have to worry about those "damn releases" 'scuse me, dam... Also the Great Smokies is a trip worth taking.
Here's the release schedule for the Tuckasegee... http://www.duke-energy.com/lakes/nantahala/nan-downstream-flow-releases.asp
Also, here's the USGS water levels for the Tuck.... http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?site_no=03513000

Cherokee
I'll be fishing in Cherokee the afternoon of the 6th through sometime on the 8th, depending on the weather. Look for the guy wet from head to toe somewhere near Bunches Creek.
