Fishing Licenses...
I'm heading to VA in the morning, so currently I'm looking into buying a non-res VA license....NOT!!!
Got me thinking though about license prices in surrounding states...
Seems like NC is the only state in the southeast that has a stable licensing program. Tennessee is by far the worst for Non-Resident anglers.
Here's the low-down...
1.) A non-resident annual VA license w/ trout privileges totals to $54 ($36 for Freshwater Fish License and $18 for trout stamp.
2.) A non-resident annual TN license w/ trout privileges totals to $81 (if you want to fish Tellico River/Citico Creek/Gatlinburg, you add to the $81.
3.) A non-resident annual GA license w/ trout privileges totals to $65.
4.) Lastly, a non-resident annual NC license w/ trout privileges totals to $40
Not complaining, just thought this was pretty interesting (and pretty insane)

Re: Fishing Licenses...
By all means.... complain. I realize we don't pay taxes but seems to me that they really hurt their out of state support by socking it to us out of town chumps. The other thing you have to consider is the length of coverage. TN really sticks it by doing it by calender year. I.E. you buy it Dec 30th and it expires Dec 31st. Most do it by rolling date. I.E. it expires one year from the date of purchase. I guess I won't be fishing TN any time soon.
Re: Fishing Licenses...
Tn has been complained to. I am pretty sure they don't care all that much. For me I live in a county that borders Tn and it's a pretty much have to have. The tail-water are only a hour and 20 minutes away. I'm a regular customer. They started the out of state prise raising when I was in my teens and we fish the lake over there a lot. Don't see a change in the foreseeable future.
Re: Fishing Licenses...
I just hate knowing that as a non-resident, you have to pay $81 to fish the SoHo, Watauga, Clinch, Tellico, etc.
