My buddy from Louisiana came up for a few days, so we headed off to WC yesterday to try our hand at some of these corn fed monster trout I keep hearing about. We found a nice spot that wasn't too deep with a steady, slow current, perfect for a novice and a near novice. I had some luck on a PT nymph in the morning with 4 quick brookies, 2 browns, and a bow. After noon I tied on a wooly bugger and the race was on! Whenever a wind gust came through I'd throw the bugger under some rhodo limbs and literally watch the trout fight over it. I lost count after 20 but I was easily in the 30 fish range yesterday, including a 20"+ monster bow. The phone took a spill in the creek so if it dries out I'll try to get some pics posted. My buddy fishes for redfish and speckled trout down there a lot but he said even with catching 7 fish it was the best day of sportfishing in his life. I would concur.

Special thanks to Tyler and all you guys out there for giving me good tips this past year, and even though I've gotten the skunk plenty of times this year, I found that in the end it all adds up to making you a better angler. TIGHT LINES!

Sounds like one heck of a day! WC is on fire right now. I've been directing a lot of folks to Wilson.

You're right about getting skunked. It does make an angler better. Like any sport, a bad day allows you to go back and figure out what went wrong and how you can successfully fix it.

Wilson Creek is a jewel! Definitely my favorite place to fish close to home.
